Parkland High School will Salute Class of 2020 Athletes and Local Heroes with Friday Night Lights Participation Tonight

This evening, Friday, April 17, 2020, Parkland High School and 45 other PIAA District XI schools will be recognizing the Class of 2020 and health care workers on the front line of the fight against COVID-19 by lighting up our stadium and field scoreboards from 7-9 PM. This time frame is in conjunction with the National “Porch Light Campaign” that supports healthcare workers.

Scoreboards at the turf stadium, football stadium and baseball and softball fields will display the score as 20-20 in honor of this year’s graduating class, while the football scoreboard will show 4th Down and 19 yards to go will show as the down and distance signifying COVID-19 is on its final down.  This event also serves to thank the Class of 2020 for all the great memories they have bestowed upon us and we wish them all nothing but the best of luck in all their future endeavors!

We will post photos on the District’s social media outlets:  Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Please note that people are NOT permitted to walk on school district property during this event and should remain at home or plan to simply drive by the complexes and remain inside vehicles at all times.

We encourage everyone to use noisemakers or rally towels/poms poms at home and take a selfie picture or video and share as a comment on Parkland School District’s Facebook page at 7 PM on Friday night.

Again, we cannot stress this enough, supporters of this initiative will NOT be permitted on foot on school district property. Security officers will be stationed at both complexes. Please stay safe, stay well, and stay home and please continue practicing social distancing which is helping to flatten the curve of this pandemic. Thank you.
