The ACVA released their 2024 Team Academic selections.  For the second straight year, Parkland was named to the list.  The United States Marine Corps and AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Congratulations to Liberty's Adam Mittl on being named to the AVCA All-American 1st Team.  He was joined by another PA player, Exeter's Gaige Gabriel on the 1st Team.  They were the only 2 PA players selected.

Parkland's magical season came to an end on Saturday in the PIAA AAA Final.  Facing an extremely talented and hungry Shaler Area team, Parkland found themselves chasing the Titans the majority of the match before Shaler closed it out 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20).  The match was a complete reversal of the 2023 PIAA AAA Final which saw these same teams play each other, but Parkland having the upper hand then.

Leading the way for Parkland was Josh Nation (Jr. OH) with 11 kills while Owen Rodgers (Sr. OPP) added 7 kills.  Alex Wilby (Sr. OH) added 6 kills, Luke Smith (Sr. MH) had 5 kills, Will Siltes (Sr. S) 4 kills, and Brady Hayward (Sr. MH) added 2 kills.  Stiles also directed the offense with 28 assists.  Kumayl Soonasra (Sr. L) collected 11 digs and Ahmad Jaffer (Sr. DS) also had 5 digs.

Defending state champion Parkland earned a return trip to Penn State and another chance at a state title with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 27-25) win over #2 AAA Central York.  More information will be posted later.

Next up for the Trojans is a rematch with PVCA #1 AAA Shaler Area whom the Trojans defeated in the 2023 PIAA AAA Final.  The 3A match will be played in the storied Rec Hall at Penn State University on Saturday, June 15th at 1:30 pm.  The AA Final will be played at 11:00 am before the AA match.

Congratulations to Liberty's Adam Mittl on being the only PA player selected to the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Best and Brightest list for 2024.  He was one of 40 players named to the 1st Team.

Parkland downed #4 AAA Pennsbury (21-0), the District 1 champions, 3-2 (25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 18-25, 15-12) to advance to the state semifinals for the second straight year. More information will be posted soon. 

Next up for Parkland is Central York (18-0) on Tuesday, June 11th at 5:30pm. That match will be held at Cocalico HS in Denver, PA.

Parkland and Pennsbury will face off at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School on Saturday, June 8th at 12:00 pm.

In what seemed like it was going to be a quick match, Parkland raced out to a quick two-set lead on Red Lion but the Lions raced back and tied the match, forcing a fifth set.  In the fifth set, Parkland raced out to a 7-1 and 12-4 lead before closing it out for the 3-2 (25-16, 25-16, 18-25, 25-27, 15-6) win to advance to the next round.
