Emmaus boys take on Central York in state 3A volleyball semifinals

Who: Emmaus (District 11 Champion) vs. Central York (District 3 Champion)

Where: Exeter Township High School

When: 7 p.m. Tuesday

Head Coaches: Emmaus: Ken Dunkle; Central York: Todd Goodling

How they got there:

Emmaus: The Green Hornets faced an unfamiliar test in the PIAA quarterfinals against Pennridge. Not only did Emmaus drop the first set, but it was forced to win the match in the fifth set. Before that, the Green Hornets ripped through the District 11 tournament as well as the PIAA first round against La Salle College, all straight-set victories. Leading the way for the Green Hornets are: James Haag, Brendan Dunkle, Cameron Parsons, Carson Landis, Noah Bacon and Jacob Rumfield.

Central York: Ranked No. 1 in the state in 3A, the Panthers have not been challenged thus far in the PIAA tournament. Central has swept Central Bucks East and Pennsbury, but could face a stiffer test in Emmaus. What's more impressive is last month's dominant sweep over Northeastern, the top 2A team in Pennsylvania. The Panthers will expect a strong effort from Cole Johnson, Braden Richard, Carter Luckenbaugh, Grant Cash, Zakery Kakos and Spencer Tate.
